Standard 9: Reflective Practice: Professional Growth

DESCRIPTION

Standard 9: Reflective Practice: Professional Growth

The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his or her choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community) and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.

REFLECTION

Teachers must understand methods of inquiry that provides a variety of self-assessments and problem-solving strategies. I believe it is also important that teachers are aware and up-to-date with the current research on teaching and learning and of the resources available for professional and content learning. In professional learning teachers must practice self-reflection.  With this, teachers should be committed to continually develop and refine their practices that address the individual needs of all their students. Teachers can do this by seeking out professional literature, attending professional development seminars, utilize peers and other resources to support their own development as a learner and as a teacher.
