DESCRIPTION
Standard 6: Communication and Technology
The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.
REFLECTION
I believe it is important for teachers to use effective communication to foster inquiry, integrate technology, foster collaboration and encourage communication among students and between students and teacher. Taking advantage of the capacity of technology is a great way to engage students in active learning.
I will integrate new technologies into my instruction with the goal of making learning more meaningful, motivating, differentiated and rooted in the personal interests of students. This will grant access to the science curriculum for all students.
Modeling how to communicate effectively illustrates a positive example about sending and receiving messages. I believe teachers must monitor their personal verbal and nonverbal communication so it is encouraging, clear and concise.
